The Stoke & North Staffordshire Deaf Children's Society is a local group run by parents and carers of deaf children, working together with local health and education professionals. We support families with children or young people who are affected by hearing impairments, ranging from mild to profound deafness - whether temporary or permanent.
We run a series of clubs and events throughout the year which are all funded or supplemented by the fantastic fundraising efforts of our members.
As 90% of deaf children are born into families with no history of deafness, finding early support is vital. While there are many professionals who will be involved with a deaf child's medical care, it is also helpful for many parents to be able to get in touch with other people within the deaf community.
It is also a valuable experience for your child to be able to meet with other deaf children and know that they are not alone.
We understand the difficulties that you may be facing and we are here to help and support you.
